1 Tim. 6:20 AMP "O Timothy, guard and keep the deposit entrusted [to you]!

Turn away from the irreverent babble and godless chatter, with the vain and empty and worldly phrases, and the subtleties and the contradictions in what is falsely called knowledge and spiritual illumination."

Keep: Be on watch, Guard the Word and spiritual deposits that you have received from God.

keep--from spiritual thieves, and from enemies who will, while men sleep, (are unaware) sow tares amidst the good seed sown by the Son of man.

1 Thes. 5:6 "Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober."

Matt. 13:19 NKJV “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart”.

This is he who received seed by the wayside.

Matt. 13:24-25 NLT "Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field.
25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away."

Erosion of our Spiritual walk and hunger for the things of God never happens suddenly, but discretely, slowly, and unfortunately more times than not, deceptively under the disguise of legitimate alternatives!

Jesus said, "The thief comes only to kill, steal, and destroy."
It should be no surprise that he would seek and advantage in our lives to destroy our testimony, our zeal for the things of God, and turn Gods people back into the world.

1 Cor. 15:33 AMP "Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.

1 Cor. 15:33 ISV "Stop being deceived: Wicked friends lead to evil ends."

In the parable of the farmer who "sowed the good seed," Jesus said the enemy was able to do this while people were "sleeping."

Spirituality speaking, when we get lax in guarding our hearts and minds from unmonitored Thoughts and conversation we are opening the door for deception and weeds that could choke out the Word which was sown into our hearts!

1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

2 Cor. 10:4-5 NIV "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

The Word of God teaches us to be sober minded, on the alert, not just allowing anything to be entertained in our minds."
The Apostle Paul said, in Heb. 2:1 "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip."

Look at the Amplified version of Heb. 2:1 AMP "SINCE ALL this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away."

We are not guarding random pieces of information, we are guarding the Treasure of God's Knowledge and Wisdom in our hearts!

If the wisdom is "Worth Getting," it's Worth Guarding!
