The God Walk...

Col. 3:5 AMP says, "So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God)

But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foul mouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!"

The KJV says, Mortify: to deprive of power, destroy the strength of. (Strongs)

The purpose of this verse is so that the Christian may successfully do verse 2. "Set your affections on things above."

If your flesh is dominating you, then your pursuit of the things of God will be Greatly hindered. The battle between the heart and the flesh will create a divided outcome.

However, if you deprive the fleshly nature of power and destroy the strength of the craving appetites that pull you away from pursuing a Godly life, you will have amazing success in your spiritual life - free from the condemnation that comes when the carnal nature (flesh) rules.

A young warrior came to an Indian Chief and said, "I have something in me that wants to do good, and another that wants to do bad. It's like two dogs fighting in me to win. What should I do?" The Chief replied, Just don't feed the bad dog and he will have no strength to fight!" (Author unknown)

When you refuse to give in to the carnal nature, the flesh, you starve it out, deprive it of power, and destroy the strength!
